Base Camp
We will be based in Bend, Oregon for our housing accommodations. Bend is a small city on the Deschutes River, just east of the Cascade Mountains with a High Desert meets Alpine Forest climate. Well known for its scenic trails and iconic breweries, Bend began as a logging town and has become a mecca for outdoor sports lovers of all varieties. The unique geographic and volcanic qualities of Bend have produced natural wonders such as lava tubes and rock spires, all of which we will explore at camp!

Housing Accommodations
Minutes from downtown and just feet from the pristine water of the Deschutes River, our lodgings are in a stunning 6bd, 5ba, 5,000 square foot home. Fully equipped for outdoor play with on site kayaks, bikes and a ready-to-use hot tub and pool table, our "downtime" at camp is sure to rival our daily adventures. Spacious and comfortable, there is ample room for "family style" group meals and of course our famous Cornhole tournament! All packages include either a twin, double, queen, or king bed and some shared rooms have bunk beds. No camper will have to sleep on couches, futons, trundles, or air mattresses to ensure a quality nights sleep. See pictures HERE.

Running Venues
Bend offers incredible variety in its running venues that we will take full advantage of at camp! With everything from paths along the river to an out and back trail run featuring a spectacular waterfall, rock spires that jut up from the forest floor and single track trails used by the pros, our goal is to give you an experience truly unique to Bend and the Pacific Northwest. Don't worry, no run is too technical and every venue can accommodate all skill levels.

Early Arrival
I
f you would like more time to experience Bend on your own, there is an early arrival package. There are no pick-up services or food accommodations for this option (first meal is appetizers from 12pm-3pm on the first day of camp). This option is perfect for those who would like to rent a car to have an extra day to experience Bend's charming downtown and scenic landscape.

Meals
All meals; breakfast, lunch and dinner, will be provided by Go Run Vacations starting with afternoon appetizers on day one as campers arrive. On the last day of camp a hot breakfast after the run will conclude the camp meals directly before departure.

Group Size
There will be a minimum of 8 runners and a maximum of 13 runners. Spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis!

Altitude Training
Bend, Oregon sits at the modest altitude of 3,600 feet. While not high enough to severely impact training paces, this elevation still offers a slightly higher production of red blood cells that help carry more oxygen to hard-working muscles. We hope this "middle-ground" will be low enough to allow for truly enjoyable runs while still providing you with a noticeable benefit upon your return to sea level!

Training Advice
Michael Crouch has been a life-long runner and a long-time coach, so all questions about recovery, training philosophy, mental strategy, or any other running related questions are welcome! There will be plenty of time to get to know Michael (as well as your fellow staff member Nick Haney, owner of the coveted sub-3 marathon and sub-5 mile PR) so feel free ask as many questions as you like! A running seminar on training/recovery will also be provided with a question and answer session.

Travel Requirements
All guests should arrive by 2pm on the first day of camp. Redmond Airport is the local airport. Departure from camp will be between 9-11am on day 5, so please set your departure flight for after 12pm when flying out of Redmond, and 3pm or later when flying out of Portland. Please plan your travel accommodations accordingly. Once all itineraries are collected, pick-up and drop-off schedules will be provided for all guests.

Bend Transportation Centers
(Flight and train not Included In Trip Price)
  • Redmond Municiple Airport (RDM) (Recommended)
  • Portland International Airport (PDX) (Requires a shuttle to Bend)
  • If you choose to rent a car, on site parking is not always guaranteed. Please contact Michael for further information.

Transportation To/From Portland
(Flight and shuttle not Included In Trip Price)

If you choose to fly into Portland International Airport (PDX), there is a shuttle service to Bend that costs $53 each way (not included in trip price). Plan on exiting the shuttle in Bend for pickup by one of our guides.

Running Requirements
While Bend's elevation is moderate at 3,600 feet, training is a little more difficult than sea level training, so while runners of all abilities are welcomed, we recommend erring on the side of caution and taking it nice and easy for the first few days of camp. The air is a bit thinner, and it is recommended that all runners slow down their paces by at least 5-10 seconds per mile to compensate.  Distances of each run will vary and will cater to all training needs, whether you run every day or are the non-running spouse of someone who dragged you along on this trip. Each venue has a natural beauty of its own so feel free to walk the route we are at if you wish. The maximum amount of running each morning will be 10 miles/16km. You will have free time to double that day if you need extra mileage.
