FAQ

What will we do when we are not running?
Much of our time will be spent on excursions to picturesque places like the Grand Canyon (Northern Arizona) or Emerald Bay (Lake Tahoe), but outside of that we will be spending our leisure hours in a spacious vacation rental, playing games and bonding with each other. Free time is open ended and can of course be used for the kind of naps that only come with altitude training! You will also have plenty of time to connect with Sarah and Michael, who look forward to chatting with you about recovery, training, coaching, etc.

What kind of food will we be eating?
There will be an emphasis on local cuisine to give you a taste of the local flavors. High quality and healthy food will be served up in well-balanced, runner-friendly meals. (If you have any special dietary needs, don’t hesitate to let us know. We are happy to accommodate.)

What should I pack for the trip?
Honestly, not much. The vacation home will have all the towels and linens you will need, but bring plenty of running clothes, and a jacket for the cold nights.. Summer in Northern Arizona may bring some rain, so be prepared with something waterproof just in case! A full packing checklist will be provided for you to make sure you don't miss anything.

How much running will we do?
Each running venue will have a different recommended distance. Most range from 3-7miles (5-11km) but longer and shorter distances can be accommodated. Each run will be fully supported and guided to accommodate whatever distance you would like to run. Feel free to go for a shorter walk or get up to a 10mile run. If you do have additional mileage, there will always be free time allotted in the afternoon to get in a second run.

What kinds of terrain/surface will we be running on?
Our running terrain will vary widely from mildly technical single track trails to smooth, manicured dirt roads. We strive for an “off the beaten path” running experience, but make sure that the surfaces are gentle enough for even our beginning runners!

What are the housing accommodations like?
The groups will be staying in beautiful, fully-furnished vacation rentals which will offer beds in various sizes between twin and king size with the option of a standard shared room, a private room for one person, or a private room for couples or friends (friends who don't mind sharing a private room in the same bed). For the sake of a good night’s sleep, we do not consider futons or couches to be beds! The standard shared rooms will accommodate between two and four people and may have bunk beds, twin beds, double beds or queen beds for your accommodation. All shared rooms will be occupied by the same gender. Some rooms may come with a private bathroom, but those rooms will be prioritized for couples. As one would expect with a vacation rental, most campers will share a bathroom.

Can a spouse or friend who is not a runner attend too?
Of course! All are welcome and there is much to be enjoyed outside of the hours spent running during our vacations! Many of our running venues are quite walker friendly, and the scenery can be enjoyed at a much slower pace!

What if I am attending the trip alone?
We are happy to accommodate those coming to camp alone with the full guarantee that they will be leaving with a whole group of new friends! Should you opt for the shared room option, you will find yourself placed with a same-sex adventurer that we choose based on who we believe will be a good match.

Will I be the slowest person there?
This is a fear for many campers, but we truly cater to all paces, from those seeking faster times to those just hoping to run a mile without stopping for the first time. We understand that all runners are on their own personal journey through the sport and we want to be respectful of that. If think you are too slow to attend camp, send us a message, and I can assure you, there is no running too slow to come to camp.

How old do I have to be to attend?
All adults age 18 and up are welcome! While we may consider a minor (under the age of 18) who is attending with a parent or guardian, this will be decided on a case by case basis and is up to the sole discretion of Go Run Vacations. If you would like to find out more, please send us a message on the Contact page.

What if I have to cancel?
We know that life is unpredictable and sometimes plans have to change. We prepare well in advance for our trips so many costs are not refundable. Our cancellation policy is as follows:

  • Deposits are non-refundable
  • Full Balance is due a minimum 60 days out from the start of camp (see date at checkout)
  • 31-59 Days out from the trip, 50% of the trip will be refunded
  • 30 Days or less out from the trip start date, no refunds will be issued

Why is the flight not included?
Our adventurers have busy lives and schedules that make it difficult to ensure a workable travel calendar as many opt to arrive early or stay later on their own timeline. For this reason, it makes much more sense for flights to be booked individually, though we are, of course, available to help with travel guidance to and from our vacations!

What if I want to arrive early or stay later?
Some camps have an option to arrive early, and select camps have an option to stay late. We chose to keep the price low for these options because there will not be pick-up or drop-off availability for these optional days. Food is also not included. This gives you the freedom to check out anything we may have missed, and you can do it on your schedule while not having to move into a hotel first.

What does the trip price include?
All excursions, shuttles to/from transit centers, living accommodations, entrance fees, and travel to/from runs, guides, and any sponsor swag. All meals will be catered either by your guides or by professional caters. For specific details on what is covered and what is not covered, please refer to the trip details.

What does the trip price not include?
There is very little that the trip price does not include. Such things as: tips, souvenirs, alcohol, travel insurance, medical insurance and passports are the responsibility of the traveler. For specific details on what is covered and what is not covered, please refer to the trip details.
